A suspicious email has made it into your inbox and you’re not sure if it’s legitimate or if it’s spam, or contains a virus or otherwise dangerous. I receive these emails from clients, friends and family with such questions. They’re pretty easy to detect if you know some of the key areas to look at. Here is one that I received recently and it was obviously spam.

When an “App” Isn’t Really an App

What happens when you download an App to your smartphone, and said app simply takes you to the company website? My personal and first opinion would be “What the heck?!?”

IMO, an app that simply links to a website shouldn’t even become an app. I guess I could be won over with a case if that ‘website’ is trully and fully functional and designed for use by a mobile device only. Granted, and technically speaking, apps are reading and writing the ...

Yahoo Email Accounts Brutally Hacked . . . Again!

This revolving door is getting old!  Yahoo email account are getting blasted again by hacks frustrating recipient and bewildering users.  Is it a hack? Is it a break-in?  no one really knows, but it’s running crazy again!  This happened big-time back in January, and again in April.  Here it is June and happening again – maybe a 3 month cycle?  I’ve received no less than a dozen hacked emails from people who obviously have me in their contact ...

Google Chrome Voice Recognition

Yesterday, Google Announced on their Chrome Blog that they have launched their Web Speech API, basically enabling Voice Recognition within the browser.  This is one of the next big things in how we use computers, in my opinion of course 😉

Web Host Servers Renaming index.htm to index.html

Why Certain Servers will rename index.htm to index.html
I found out that when moving to some new servers, my home page was getting automatically renamed. It was the mere fact that the index page was getting automatically renamed without any settings or other interaction. No one to date has been able to answer this phenomenon as to exactly why or even “who” is re-writing it.
I only stumbled across this problem as I was seeing a lot of “404 Page not found” ...
